This is one page from my Spain "haiku" journal. I did the drawing in pencil while I was in Madrid, but when I came home I went over it in ink and colored pencil.
Hi Kate! I can smell the paella from here, wafting down the block and through the kitchen window. Nice! I've never been bold enough to try a sketchbook, glad to see you dabbling.
Over the last dozen years I have been discovering my creative side. In addition to describing myself as a mom, wife, librarian, feminist, humanitarian, and environmentalist; in my bolder moments I also whisper artist. My work has evolved from simple rubber stamping to mixed media with paper and fabric. I love learning (and making up) new techniques for making cards, ATC's, altered books and more. Since I have a very practical, down-to-earth side, I find it hard to make things that have no use whatsoever. Fortunately, "giving a gift" satisfies that need so I find that I pour much of my creativity into gifts for others. Sometimes I make things for myself (if I can justify it...)

Kate, your drawing is what is awesome. You are exhibiting talents you probably wouldn't even admit you have. Love it!
Hi, I'm back to say sorry I didn't notice your haiku. I like it too but I just respond to visuals first.
that is such a cool journal...I hope you share more pages!
